ARE YOU INTERESTED IN AN EXCITING CREATIVE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY? THE LUMIÈRE FESTIVAL IS LOOKING FOR YOU!

We are currently looking for volunteers to help turn Stanley Park (New Edinburgh) into a magical wonderland of light for the evening of Saturday August 20th.We are also looking for volunteers to help out on Saturday August 6th and Saturday August 13th for an interactive Story Telling event and a Drum and Dance workshop.

There are multiple volunteer positions available and we encourage you to involve your family and friends. We are always looking for new and returning volunteers as this event could not go on without your dedication and hard work.

Volunteer Job Descriptions

Crew

Do you prefer to help behind the scenes with the details that go in to making a successful event? If so, this is the spot for you! Various jobs are available under this category including decorating the park, fire safety  and backstage artist assistance.

Front of the House

Are you an outgoing person looking to assist people with accurate information?  Why don’t you consider becoming an information assistant for the Lumiere Festival and guide people to their proper destination.

Lantern Assistant

Do you have an active imagination? Are you crafty? Each year the Lumiere festival fills Stanley Park with hundreds of home made lanterns. Would you like to be a part of the building or lantern care team? If yes, this is the volunteer category for you.

Volunteer Assistant

Are you good at working with others? Maybe this job is right up your alley. Not only will you learn new skills but you will also be able to interact with people in your community.

It doesn’t end with the Evening of Light Celebration which was held September 4th!
Bask in the AfterGlow – a  photography exhibit of our photo marathon that will hang in the Corridor Gallery September 7 - 9. Vernissage September 7th from 7-9 pm  at the Corridor Gallery  in the CCCC 2nd floor 200 Crichton Ave. Please use the Avon Lane entrance. There is no admisson fee and everyone is welcome!

The EVENING OF LIGHT is upon us!
We are currently setting up in the park and are looking forward to  a beautiful evening of candlelight, magic, music, circus, dancing and more!  Yes, we know those pessimists at the weather office aren’t as confident as us, but who are you going to trust: a bunch of suits in an office, or us celebrants out in the park?!!!

PARKING
We have NO on-site parking  and  Stanley Avenue will be closed  from  River Lane to KeeferSt. We encourage you to walk to the park or use OC Transpo.  The #9 stops at Crichton and Stanley.  The park can also be accessed from Beechwood Ave. just east of the St. Patrick Street Bridge. OC Transpo 1,5,and 7  stop  nearby.

There are many opportunities to get involved with the Lumière Festival:

• Sign up for a lantern making workshop at the Crichton Cultural Community Centre. This is a great end of summer event  and antidote to the August blahs and the back to schools blues! Workshops  are  suitable for 3 years and up and our Star and pyramid workshops a delightful challenge for the 14+ crowd.
• Have us organize a facilitated lantern making workshop off site for your group or celebration.
• Become a Lumière Festival Sponsor to help us to bring joy to thousands of members of your community.
• It takes hundreds of hands to bring Lumière Festival together. We welcome your help! Please become a volunteer.

Mark your  calendar, tell your friends, attend a workshop, create a lantern, bring your family  and friends. It’s going to be Magical!
