In the dances you’ll see August 20, the dancers strike physical balances that are simultaneously edgy and wonderfully natural. Dancers spin and transport other dancers in their wheelchairs; dancers shake, bend, wait and respond. The work demands a deep listening of the human body. The result is an explosion of creative possibility. We are shedding light on the beauty, power and artistry of integrated dance. Performers with and without disability create as equals in an emotionally striking work that makes us all feel more connected to our humanity.

The Fire Weavers performance group will amaze you with their graceful dance and intricate fire prop manipulation. Beautifully choreographed with back to back circus tricks and fluid technique this dynamic and creative performance is sure to leave the audience in awe.
The female trio:
Sophie Latreille: She takes fire manipulation beyond advanced technique and blends her graceful dance style to her technical circus manipulation skill with poi, fans and hula hoops.
Brigitte Ethier: Elegant and sensual, she pulls from her figure skating background to bring her own unique style to fire hula hooping and fire fan dancing.
Amber Robson: Her love of dance and performance makes for an energetic and captivating show with expert hula hooping, poi and staff spinning.
The Fire Weavers have many years experience in performing fire and uv/glow shows, they are based in Ottawa but travel worldwide to perform for public and private events.

Justine offers regular yoga classes at several venues in the Ottawa area, including Santosha Yoga, Adishesha Yoga Zone, Mountaingoat Yoga, and her workplace at National Defence. Her teaching style is eclectic, drawing from her vast exposure to dance, martial arts, and various yoga traditions. She enjoys the creative process of stringing together postures and transitions to produce original flows, which can then be applied to her yoga demo choreography projects. Justine is constantly on the lookout for opportunities that fuel her imagination and deliver both physical and mental challenges…all of which serve to bring her yoga practise to new heights.

I am 61 years old. I live in Ottawa, Ontario. I’ve been happily married for over 35 years. I have 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters and two golden retrievers who thinks the world of me.
I started writing songs when I was 20, and I haven’t stopped yet. There must be over 400 by now, but I get paid even less for counting them, than I do for writing them, so I don’t bother counting them anymore. I’ve recorded 6 albums, but only released 5 of them, cause I didn’t like the mixes on the second one.
I’ve performed a lot across Canada, in clubs and concert halls and festivals. I like recording, but mostly, I love playing for live audiences – that’s where the magic is, and I‘m a big sucker for magic.
I played guitar exclusively (have this sweet ’64 Gibson Hummingbird) until about 12 years ago, when for some mysterious reason, I fell in love with the banjo, and ever since, that’s almost all I play. I think it’s because of the droning 5th string (I call it the ‘doink’ string), that gives the song a bit of a hiccup, or backbeat propulsion … sometimes I miss the near orchestral resonance of the guitar’s six strings … but only sometimes. Mostly I love how playing the banjo makes me feel great.
I guess this where I should tell you about all the famous musicians who have ‘closed’ shows for me, over the years. Or maybe talk about all the other musical hats I’ve worn (club owner, concert/festival promoter, artist manager, radio show host, tax accountant). But I’d rather just let the music speak for itself.
