Frost Fire Ticket Prices Have Changed!!

The Ottawa Lumiere Festival has now made a change to the pricing of Frost Fire tickets! Tickets are now only $5 for each individual, and $20 for families of 4 or more!! With each ticket you will receive your own lantern to decorate (families of four or more will receive 2 lanterns), and a chance to learn songs with the Ottawa Regional Youth Choir. Following you will have the opportunity to take your lanterns as we sing towards the local retirement residences in the area to spread some cheer. Afterwards, each individual will enjoy hot chocolate, and delicious gluten free, vegetarian soup provided by Vegetarian Treasures, and be amused by live entertainment. This will be a wonderful event that will bring one and all together. You don’t want to miss this fun community event!

The time has finally arrived where you can purchase your Frost Fire Tickets at the Crichton Cultural Community Centre (255 MacKay Street) !!… With each $25 ticket purchased it will cover a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children), and $5 for every additional individual. Also, included, the family will receive 2 lanterns that they will be able to decorate, each individual a delicious soup provided by Vegetarian Treasures, and bread from Rideau Bakery, hot chocolate, an opportunity to sing songs brought to you by the Ottawa Regional Youth Choir at the local retirement residences and live entertainment.

This is not an evening you will want to miss. This will bring together one and all on December 17th, 2011 from 4-7pm at Memorial Hall (39 Dufferin Street).

Lumière welcomes you to our first Winter Solstice event: Frost Fire

This year the Ottawa Lumière Festival is introducing its first Winter Solstice event: Frost Fire. This will be an evening for family and friends to gather together and forget their winter blues at Memorial Hall, next to the Crichton Cultural Community Centre. On Saturday, December 17th, 2011 from 4pm-7pm, we invite you to bring your lanterns once again as we light up the night sky as we sing songs along with the Ottawa Regional Youth Choir (ORYC), around the neighbourhood and add cheer to our local retirement residences. If you don’t have your own lantern that is alright because with each admission, you will have the opportunity to decorate your own lantern, provided by the Ottawa Lumiere Festival. Afterwards, everyone will gather back at Memorial Hall, where you will be served delicious hot chocolate and gluten-free, comforting soup, brought to you by Vegetarian Treasures, along with some fresh Rideau Bakery, french bread. Alongside all of this you will be provided live entertainment by Just Voices. Make sure to get your tickets for only $25 for up to a family of 4 (2 adults , 2 children). This will be a great family event during those cold winter nights filled with heartwarming activities for the community to enjoy!

As a part of the Crichton Cultural Community Centre the Lumiere Festival will be participating at the Open House on Saturday, September 10th @ 10:00 – 2:00pm to welcome all new comers.

On Saturday, August 20, 2011, 8000+ people gathered in New Edinburgh Park for the Evening of Light Celebration which concluded the 20 days of the Lumière Festival! We are pleased that all of you were able to come this year and experience the magic of lights with us!

We would like to thank all those who made the Lumière Festival a success: the visual artists and the performers, the New Edinburgh community and all other communities around, and an extra special thank you to our hardworking volunteers. Thanks also to the people who made it all possible: the City of Ottawa, the Canadian Department of Heritage, the Community Foundation of Ottawa, the Crichton Cultural Community Centre, Ottawa Festivals, and all our sponsors, Janny and Jeff from Royal LePage Realtor, New Edinburgh Pub & Eatery, Jewel 98.5 FM, OttawaKiosk.com, GoodLife Fitness, PlaSmart Inc. Afterglow 2011 results (24 hour photo marathon)

Here are the long-awaited results of the 2011 Afterglow Photo Marathon! Winners of the large-size prints (12″x18″) are represented with the green border; winners of the medium-size prints (8″x12″) are shown with the yellow border.

Andrew Argyle has a B.Sc in geoscience from Concordia University in
Montreal and worked in the high-tech field in Montreal and for Corel
Corp. Andrew has been making things since he was a young lad. He has
made and sold traditional jewelry and wood items as well as furniture
made from non-tradition materials. He now works largely with retro or
used components, integrating them with electroluminescent wire, LED’s ,
that are controlled with hardware and software of his own design.

Get inspired by coming in and making your own hand-made lanterns!
Rachelle Carrier our Lantern Insturctor and our helpful Lumiere Volunteers will assist you towards your inspiration…

When: August 1-20, 2011

Where: We will be serving you either in Room 307 or at the Fieldhouse
-Room 307: at the Criton Cultural Community Centre, 200 Crichton Street, 2nd floor
Main entrance is located at the rear on Avon Lane, off of Dufferin Road. See Map
-Fieldhouse: located at Stanley Park (New Edinburgh area), a brick ‘fieldhouse’ at the centre of the Park, beside the Kids play structure. See Map

What: Throughout the month of August Lumiere Festival is offering drop-in lantern workshops to the public (no registration required). Workshops are for all ages and its a great way to bond, meet people and to get in touch with your creative and artistic nature.

Fee: We are offering five types of lanterns this year:

Jar Lanterns: $10.00/each
Round Lanterns: $10.00/each
Silhouette Lanterns: $15.00/each
Star or Diamond Lanterns: $20/each
